Day 1: Ho Chi Minh City (D)
Arrive HCMC and check into the famous Continental Hotel. Enjoy a city tour including the Reunification Conference Hall (formerly the South Vietnamese Presidential Palace), US Embassy grounds and the War Remnants Museum. In the evening enjoy a welcome to Saigon Dinner. Stay overnight in HCMC
Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City (B/LD)
Travel towards the Iron Triangle with a visit to a prosthetics clinic in Thu Duc, and tour Long Binh, a former base that today is an industrial park. In the evening enjoy a dinner cruise on Saigon River. Stay overnight in Ho Chi Minh city
Day 3: Ho Chi Minh City - Vung Tau (B/L)
Drive around three hours to Vung Tau. Visit the Long Tan Cross, Horse Shoe and Long Phuoc Tunnels en-route .After lunch, visit Nui Dat (SAS Hill) then continue on via Ba Ria to Vung Tau beach to relax. Stay overnight in Vung Tau
Day 4: Vung Tau - Ho Chi Minh City (B/L)
Continue to explore Vung Tau, Long Tien Pagoda and Bao Dai Palace. Return to HCMC in the late afternoon and enjoy at leisure. Stay overnight in HCMC
Day 5: Ho Chi Minh City - Tay Ninh (B/L)
Visit the Cu Chi underground tunnel system, then continue to the fascinating Cao Dai Temple in Tay Ninh province. Overnight in HCMC.
Day 6: Ho Chi Minh City - Hoi An (B)
Fly to Danang and drive to Hoi An. Afternoon walking tour of the Old Town.
Day 7: Hoi An (B)
Free day at your leisure.
Day 8: Hoi An – Hue (B/L)
Drive to Hue and enjoy lunch in an authentic Hue restaurant before visiting the Forbidden City to explore the remnants at the Citadel and its open air war museum. Rest of the day free at leisure. Stay overnight in Hue
Day 9: Hue - Quang Tri – DMZ (B/L)
North of Hue is the Demilitarized Zone, or DMZ, and Quang Tri Province, where much of the fighting occurred. This area still bears the scars of the massive bombardments that took place - the few remains of the many camps and combat bases, the barren ground pockmarked with craters, and the tens of thousands of graves in the National Cemetery, are solemn reminders of war. Nearby is the Vinh Moc tunnel complex. Stay overnight in Dong Hoi.
Day 10: Quang Tri – Hue (B/L)
Today we drive back to Hue and take a Perfume River boat trip to Thien Mu Pagoda (16th Century). Enjoy a tour of Tu Duc and Khai Dinh’s Tombs (4th and 12th Century Kings of the Nguyen Feudal Dynasty) and incense making village. Stay overnight in Hue.
Day 11: Hue - Ho Chi Minh Trail (B/L)
Drive to the Ho Chi Minh Trail - a complex web of jungle paths that enabled communist troops to travel from North Vietnam to areas close to HCMC. Also visit Aluoi and Asao, Pako and Tari ethnic national villages, and Hamburger Hill (former US military base). Stay overnight in Hue.
Day 12: Hue – Hanoi (B)
Fly to Hanoi and visit the Army Museum and the ancient Citadel where Vietnam’s army headquarters were situated during the French War. Stay overnight in Hanoi.
Day 13: Hanoi (B/L)
Visit Hanoi’s historic sites such as the ‘Hanoi Hilton’, B52 lake, John MC Cain’s parachute site, the B52 museum, Ho Chi Minh museum, Presidential Palace, and the Temple of Literature - the first university in Vietnam dating back a thousand years ago. Take a cyclo tour, before going on an easy walking tour around Hanoi’s Old Quarter. End the day with a traditional meal and Water Puppet show. Stay overnight in Hanoi.
Day 14: Hanoi - Halong Bay (B/L/D)
Drive three to four hours to Halong Bay for a relaxing two-day cruise on a traditional junk. Enjoy lunch as you begin cruising through thousands of limestone islands. In the afternoon, you have the option of exploring limestone caves and floating fishing villages. Stay overnight on board.
Day 15: Halong Bay – Hanoi (B/L)
Continue cruising in the morning and enjoy lunch on the way back to the pier, for your afternoon transfer to Hanoi. Stay overnight in Hanoi.
Day 16: Depart Hanoi (B)
Transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
